Order Capture
MDS receives order fulfillment files in csv format, excel, xml, txt, dif, or individually 24/7/365. Cients take advantage of the many electronic file exchange options MDS supports. Orders may originate from a 3rd-party or client call center, website, or from an internal customer service (ERP) system via EDI, FTP, or arrive by e-mail or fax.

Picking, Checking, Packing
The MDS order fulfillment concept is as straightforward as the open air market illustration at left suggests, and rightly so. Yet complex systems and state-of-the-art technology are at work supporting many integrated fulfillment processes that vary per client need.

MDS performs single and batch order picking of products, parts, literature, promotional and incentive merchandise, apparel, kits, sets, POP displays, and other related POS support materials. Inventories managed in support of client order fulfillment can consist of several stock-keeping-units (SKU) to thousands of items. Picking can involve a one SKU order to large batch picking or kitting and assembly of one to thousands of SKU, components, or kits to be packed for rapid order fulfillment and shipping.

Bar Coding
MDS Radio-Frequency WMS Technology enforces correct order fulfillment procedures to support varied client order and SKU handling requirements. MDS operators scan bar codes on picks or batch pick lists, SKU, location, carton, and / or pallet bar codes with portable RF terminals designed to guarantee a 100% accurate and complete order pick, posting inventory transactions to the system, real time.

Picked orders are visually inspected or weigh checked, packed, manifested, labeled, staged, and shipped same-day or within 24-48 hours. The customer typically receives an automatic e-mail shipping confirmation the day the order ships with any available carrier tracking numbers. The client also gets daily order fulfillment ship confirmation data via FTP, EDI, or the web.
